BOY SCOUTS Meet Mondays at 6:30 pm in the Social Room Boy Scout Troop 35 was started at St. John's in 1928. Today, it remains an active program. In a typical year, the troop activities include: a trip to a cabin in the mountains (January), the Klondike Camporee (February), a trout fishing trip (April), the Spring Camporee (May), backpacking on the Appalachian Trail (June), a week of summer camp at Camp Tuckahoe, the Wizard Ranch Fall Camporee (September), a Christmas Banquet (December), and several fundraising activities. Cub Pack 35 includes Tiger Cubs, a Wolf Den, a Bear Den, and two Webelo Dens. This year, Cub Pack 35 participated in fundraisers, the Red Lion Halloween Parade, the Scouting for Food drive, a roller skating party, a sleepover and bowling party, an Orioles baseball game, camping at Camp Tuckahoe, a baseball and ice cream party, and a family picnic and swim party. Boy Scout Sunday is celebrated in church each year in February. Visit the Boy Scouts of America website GIRL SCOUTS Meet Wednesdays at 6:30 pm in the Social Room Girl Scouts at St. John's are divided into the Daisy troop for Kindergartners, Brownies for Grades 1-3, and Junior Girl Scouts for Grades 4-6. The Daisy troop does crafts, works on handbook activities, learns about the Girl Scouts through songs and games, and takes field trips. Brownies begin working on badges, complete service projects, go camping, and have lots of fun activities. The Brownies had a sleepover at the church in January. This year's Junior Girl Scouts have been very busy. They have done badge-work and service projects, participated in neighborhood and Council sponsored events and workshops, had bowling and other parties, and of course, sold cookies. They camp two or three times each year. This year in April, a special event is a Science Museum Camp-In. The Neighborhood Encampment is another special event in May.
